Independent Musician's Corner
Information  and links for the serious musician

Information from Mr. Bobby Farrell of  Vandor Records on why you should not produce your own CD in the hopes that a record company  will "sign" you...  In fact it may be the worst thing you could do.  I recommend you read and study this site first if you are considering anything other than a "local" career in the music business.

Information for the beginner:
How to pick music for your shows
How to write a great song
More to come...

A great book on how to build your band into a successful business: Grow your Band's Audience by Joe Taylor Jr.  Yes it is a business.  If you are serious you need to approach it like one.

Where Sell your CD's Online (if you decide to "go for it" anyway)
CD Baby....... Without question the best online site for selling your records.  If you are not set up with them you should be.  They also will set you up to sell your music on all the electronic download sites such as iTunes.  Also a very good source for information on promoting your band.

BuyIndieMusic.com ...  Fairly good source for selling and links to other sites.
amazon.com ....Advantage program.  Not so good now because they are charging more but still worth considering.
Cafepress.com .... Set up and sell 'T' shirts and stuff (no up front cost).

Do you want to sell your music to Films, TV shows commercials etc. LukeHits.com may be able to help.  There is other invaluable information at this site.

Consider joining the  American Federation of Musicians. They have contact information and can help you get good paying gigs.
